Little did we know, when we on the EAFT Board decided on the Summit theme “Terminology in Challenging Circumstances”, that a pandemic would appear and affect us all. Looking only at our field, these challenging circumstances did not only change terminology itself with neologisms and determinologisations in many languages, but also the way terminology work – and conferences – had to be performed during a pandemic characterized by physical distancing. The pandemic had many consequences for everyone, but for the EAFT specifically it made us move the Summit and transform it into the first digital EAFT Summit. During the event, hosted by DCU in Dublin, various aspects of “challenging terminology work” were presented, analyzed and discussed in an international setting 25–26 November 2021. Some of those works made it into this first “challenging” issue of Terminology Science & Research/Terminologie : Science et Recherche (TSR)...
