First paragraph: For many years, the Danish medical terminology, as represented in text books, articles, encyclopedia, dictionaries, and classifications, has been marked by discrepancies regarding the choice of terms and morphological and syntactical features. The growing use of electronic aids and information technologies has brought about a recognition of the need for terminological consensus as far as general, commonly used medical concepts are concerned.
